Wyatt and Christo: Couples Photography in Midcoast Maine

When I asked Wyatt what him and his husband Christo like to do together, he immediately said going to see lighthouses, and being at the beach. This was a couple after my heart! We met up on a summer evening at Reid State Park in Midcoast Maine to walk along the rocks and shores during this couples photo session.

Wyatt and Christo moved to Maine recently to live a slower life in a small community. Being outdoors at the beach is all part of their life here along the coast.

Beach couples photography at Reid State Park

Reid State Park is my favorite beach on the Midcoast! Sweeping views of the coast, rocky shores, long sandy beaches, dune grasses, and marshes - what more could you want? Part of why I love photographing at the beach is that the waves, sand, and rocks create genuine moments. Whether it’s walking the shores, combing the beach, or jumping waves, being outside lends itself to documentary photography.

This evening, we scrambled up the rocks to start the session. Wanting to look out across the beach we stopped at the view near at Griffith’s head. All the way we fought off the bugs that epitomize summer evenings in Maine. As the sun started to get lower, we moved to an inland pond and marsh area I love to swim in. Finally, we ended the session along the water, dodging the waves.

Quiet moments on film

This couples session was all about calm, quiet moments. Time looking at the ocean, sitting on the rocks, walking along the water. My favorite was when Wyatt and Christo sat on a piece of driftwood while I learned the story of how they met and proposed to each other.
