HERE FOR THE MAGICAL & WONDROUS MOMENTS

I'm Alyssa, Maine-based family, portrait, and wedding photographer

Hello there! My name is Alyssa, lover of the sea, all things vintage, old family albums, and tea. I live on the Midcoast of Maine with my fiance and our cat Henry. I am originally from Massachusetts, but moved to Maine to pursue a graduate degree in environmental sciences. It did not take long before we fell in love with the forests and rocky coastlines.

I grew up using point and shoot film cameras. My Nana introduced me to photography, helping me pick up my prints at the local shop: photos of my mom, my brother, our cat Vanilla, and cousins playing in the yard. We would then turn those cherished moments into scrapbooks that still line my shelves.

Using 35mm and medium format film, I am drawn to the power of photography for storytelling. My favorite subjects include: mothers and kids, artists and creatives, and the Maine coastline. I create art that captures imperfect, authentic moments in time that tell your story. Photos that will be cherished for years to come.

Maine documentary photographer

I am a documentary-style photographer, which means I prefer to take a step back to observe and notice before jumping in to a session with poses. I want your pictures to reflect who you truly are, and through a careful, quiet, and slow process of observing I create art with you.

While I will give the occasional prompt, my style is all about capturing the moment as it is – letting you take the lead! When it comes to creative portrait sessions this means I will collaborate with you in the time before the session, and work together during the session to create poetry in images. For families, I often let the kids take the lead, and seek to document special moments during the current season of your lives.

I want to create the types of images that I cherish of myself and my own life. Images that bring me right back to that moment in  childhood – playing in my bedroom with my tea set and stuffed animals, having a picnic outside with my mom and brother, summers spent in the ocean with cousins, eating dinner with my family. Images that remind me of who I am – that tell my story and resonate with life. Photography allows me to capture those moments for everyone so that they can feel and remember all the emotions as they are living a life worth capturing.
