Midcoast Maine Beach Family Photography Session
Maine summer coastal film photographs
In June, I photographed Sam and her family of 3 (going on 4). This was the second time I photographed this family, following a winter at-home session. Having already met the family, we all felt at ease to explore together and make photographs in a low-stress environment.
Beautiful Maine island moments
We met at an island in Yarmouth Maine - a beautiful secluded island (accessed by car) and had to walk to the coast. It was worth the short hike! The trails featured boardwalks that took us through forests, until we could see a clearing - meaning we made it to the beach. We descended the rocks and waded into the cool ocean water, capturing moments as P. wanted to go in even deeper.
Ever since this session I have been wanting to go back to this quiet spot. In Maine, there is an abundance of coastline, but sometimes it can be hard to know where the hidden gems may be. I loved that Sam introduced me to this location (it was also where they got married), as I will definitely be going back.
Adventure family photography
When I first spoke with Sam about these series of family sessions (we are doing 3 sessions to document the transition from 3 to 4 family members), she expressed wanting this session in particular to feel calm. Calm before the change and busy-ness of a new baby. While the session was full of adventure, walking along the trails, climbing on rocks and boardwalks, and wading into the ocean, to me they showcase a calmness and quiet of the Maine coast and this family in transition.
Maine maternity film photography
It was important to Sam to document this time leading up to the new baby, and what better backdrop then the place they got married. We all left feeling energized (and also pretty sleepy), but ice cream awaited P. after the session.
